Celestron Neximage Driver Support for Windows 7

Many are finding out their Celestron Neximage driver is not compatible with the new Windows 7 operating system. Fortunately, the Philips SPC900NC driver supports Windows 7 and works with the NexImage. Many thanks to Iain Barker (Neximage Yahoo Group) for providing the following instructions that will allow you to use your Neximage with Windows 7:

  1. Download the driver for Windows 7 at the Philips software and drivers page here. Download the driver file named “spc900nc_00_dw7_aen.exe“. Here is the direct link to the file download.
  2. After installing the driver, plug in the NexImage USB cable then go to the Windows device manager and find the “Unknown Device” entry.
  3. Right-click the “Unknown Device”
  4. Click “Update Driver Software”
  5. Click “Browse my computer”
  6. Click “Let me pick from a list”
  7. Select “Sound, video and Game controllers” then click Next
  8. Select “Philips CE CSI” and then “Philips SPC 900NC PC Camera”
  9. Click Next, and Yes to the “update driver warning”
  10. The NexImage should now be usable in Windows7 apps, including AMCap. It will be listed as Philips SPC 900NC PC Camera”

Have followed instructions precisely. Philips driver cannot start (error code 10). I get this on multiple computers… Have restarted computer(s). Have run ccleaner. Have uninstalled all resident webcam programs. Have run device troubleshooter from control panel.
    Hmmmmm.

I finally found an actual solution. The v2.4.14 Device Driver for The Imaging Source USB 2.0 Cameras [1.83 MB] from this website worked.

I can now use my Celestron Neximage 5 on my Windows 7 64bit.
